Our book for May will be People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (340 text pages) (published January 1, 2008).

In 1996, Dr. Hannah Heath, an Australian book conservator, is called upon to restore the Sarajevo Haggadah, a five-hundred-year-old illustrated Jewish manuscript rescued during the Bosnian
war. During her work, Hannah finds several items stuck in the book’s binding and pages which provide clues to the book’s history and prompt an examination of faith, prejudice, and the connections between people across time. The author also wrote Year of Wonders (2001), March (2005), and Horse (2022).

The book is available in physical, audio book, and e-book formats at the McKinney Library. The book is also available at the Allen, Frisco, and Plano libraries – all of which offer reciprocal lending privileges to McKinney library card holders.
