The Stonebridge Ranch Book Club invites residents to unwind, engage, and connect over great reads. Each month, members gather to discuss a featured book, share perspectives, and enjoy thought-provoking conversation in a welcoming atmosphere. With a diverse range of authors and genres, there’s always something new to discover. Some recent reads include Trust by Hernan Diaz, My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante, and James by Percival Everett.

Everyone is welcome to join us in the Community Room or on Zoom to discuss the book. We look forward to seeing you!

Our book for this month: 

The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon (448 pages) (published 2023-12-05)

In 1789 Maine, the Kennebec River freezes, trapping a man in the ice, and Martha Ballard is asked to determine the cause of death.  In her role as midwife and healer, Martha is privy to the secrets of the Hallowell settlement and is familiar with the details of an alleged crime committed by two of the town’s leaders – one of whom is now entombed in ice.  When the local physician declares the death an accident, Martha must risk all and investigate the death, on her own, as a possible murder.
