Friendly Reminders on Holiday Lights at Stonebridge Ranch

Friendly Holiday Lights Reminders at Stonebridge Ranch

Now that the holidays are here and decorations are going up throughout our community, we want to take a moment to thank our neighbors for displaying their holiday cheer. Here, we’re providing quick access to our holiday lights policy to clear up what is or isn’t allowed in common spaces. To ensure everyone has accurate information, we’re reaffirming the guidelines, not changing them. This isn’t about being “holiday grinches.” It’s about upholding standards that keep Stonebridge Ranch safe, consistent, and enjoyable for everyone.

As stated in our SRCA Modifications Guidelines, exterior lighting must stay shielded, avoid glare, meet lumen limits, and remain appropriate for the holiday being celebrated. Because of these guidelines, holiday lights and décor are not permitted in SRCA common areas, including:

  • Millard Pond gazebo
  • La Cima gazebo
  • Fountainview gazebo
  • Wellington gazebo
  • Liberty Place gazebo
  • Mayberry Park gazebo
  • Regents Park gazebo
  • Cypress Crossing gazebo
  • Roads
  • Roadside landscape areas or medians
  • Any SRCA-maintained shared structures or spaces

Please also remember that extension cords cannot run across sidewalks or roadways. This is a safety concern and falls under City of McKinney regulations.

Major monument decor

SRCA will place lights on major Stonebridge Ranch monuments, but sub-associations are responsible for their own monuments. They are permitted to decorate their village monuments with non-permanent holiday lights. Different than actual actions from our past, more permanent fasteners such as nails, screws, etc. are not permitted.

And because permanent-colored systems like Jellyfish or Oelo are not permitted, temporary, homeowner-managed displays remain the standard.

Your home is the right place for your holiday glow. Residential holiday lights can be displayed from November 1 to January 31, and all décor should reflect the holiday you’re celebrating.

Protecting our shared spaces means treating them differently than private yards. These guidelines ensure that when the neighborhood lights up for the holidays, it’s festive, beautiful, and considerate of every resident who calls Stonebridge Ranch home.
