Summer brings intense heat and changing weather conditions that can affect turf, plants, and ponds throughout Stonebridge Ranch. Our Landscape and Grounds and Maintenance teams continuously monitor community conditions and adjust their approach to support healthy landscaping, conserve water, and address potential maintenance concerns.

Smart Watering in the Summer

When it comes to maintaining a healthy landscape, more water is not always better. Overwatering can contribute to runoff, plant disease, and shallow root growth, making turf and plants less resilient during periods of extreme heat.

Irrigation schedules are adjusted based on current weather patterns, rainfall, and the specific needs of different landscaped areas. These thoughtful adjustments help ensure water is used where it can provide the greatest benefit while supporting the Association’s ongoing commitment to water conservation.

Not Every Brown Spot Means a Problem

Brown or discolored turf does not always indicate an irrigation or maintenance issue. During periods of prolonged heat, some grass may naturally enter dormancy as a way of conserving energy and protecting itself from stressful conditions.

Water is prioritized for areas where it can have the greatest impact, and our landscape teams continue monitoring turf conditions throughout the community. In many cases, dormant grass can recover once temperatures begin to cool and seasonal rainfall returns.

Behind the Scenes: Pond Maintenance

Maintaining the community’s ponds involves much more than keeping the water looking clean. Crews regularly monitor pumps, water levels, algae, aquatic plant growth, and other conditions that can affect the appearance and overall function of each pond.

Maintenance needs may vary depending on temperatures, rainfall, and seasonal changes. Consistent monitoring allows crews to identify developing concerns early and address them before they become larger or more costly maintenance issues.
