Compliance Corner: Holiday Lighting & Decoration Reminder
The holiday season is approaching, and many Stonebridge Ranch residents will soon be adding festive lights and decorations to their homes. Before you begin decorating, please take a moment to review the newly approved Stonebridge Ranch Lighting Guidelines.
These guidelines are designed to give residents flexibility to celebrate the holidays while helping ensure exterior lighting remains considerate of neighboring properties.
When Can Holiday Lights Go Up?
Seasonal and holiday lighting and decorations may be displayed beginning one month before the holiday being celebrated and must be removed no later than one month after the holiday.
There is one important exception for the December holiday season: December holiday lighting and decorations may be displayed beginning November 1 each year.
Holiday Lighting Requirements
When planning your seasonal decorations, please keep the following requirements in mind:
- Seasonal and holiday lighting and decorations must be appropriate for the holiday being celebrated.
- Colored or flashing lights are permitted when used as seasonal or holiday lighting.
- Exterior lighting must be screened and directed in a way that does not create excessive glare or negatively impact neighboring properties.
- When installing lighting on a shared fence, residents should consider the total brightness of the lighting. Hardscape and landscape lighting should range between 50 and 300 lumens, while flood lighting should range between 700 and 1,300 lumens.
- Lights or decorations installed on the top cap or trim cap of a shared fence that are visible to both neighboring properties require written confirmation of an agreement between the neighbors.
Do I Need to Submit an Application?
Good news! No application is required for seasonal lighting or decorations that comply with the approved Stonebridge Ranch Lighting Guidelines.
Residents should review the requirements before installation to ensure their lighting and decorations meet the community’s standards.
Be Merry & Be Neighborly
As lighting technology continues to evolve, these guidelines are intended to provide residents with flexibility while maintaining consideration for surrounding homes.
The Association recommends turning exterior lighting off no later than 11:00 p.m. to help minimize the impact on neighboring properties.
We love seeing Stonebridge Ranch come alive during the holiday season! Thank you for helping us keep our community festive, beautiful, and considerate of our neighbors.
